Thinking outside the box

The clients request for this family bathroom in Henleaze was a typical one….. we don’t use the bath anymore, we want a shower in the room instead.

However due to the size of the room and the position and length of the window, the clients didn’t know how it could be done and no solutions had been offered by other companies apart from having the window within the shower.

Pentagon shower trays are rarely used these days, most designers use the quadrant shape to gain space within an area. However looking at the wall where the basin currently sat it looked the right angle to install a pentagon tray onto this wall. By turning it round to face the ‘wrong way’ and building a small stud wall to give a flat wall to sit a door onto, we were able to spec a 1200mm pivot door with inline panel to sit alongside a 900mm side panel.

By utilising the awkward space in the room with the shower enclosure, we now had plenty of room to fit a basin, towel radiator and WC. To avoid the room becoming crowded, we repositioned the basin to the same wall as the shower and moved the WC to sit on the back wall. To create a neat finish – we bore a new hole for the WC soilpipe through the back wall and ran new piping externally along the back of the house to connect up to the existing soil stack. This eliminated the need to have any internal boxing to hide pipes within the bathroom.
