Design

Having worked on this client’s loft bathroom and being full of admiration for their style and eclectic tastes I was really looking forward to working on the family bathroom. Their existing bathroom was extremely tired and very cramped. My main idea was to split the basin away from the WC and no longer under the window – my pet hate! Noticing I had just over 400mm depth between the door and side wall encouraged me to investigate putting the basin along this wall. Laufen with their Compact Pro range have the perfect product. Immediately the room was taking shape as I was able to position a circular mirror directly above the basin. This left the whole of the back wall for the WC and by creating a stud wall underneath the window I was able to use a concealed cistern, build a substantial lit bath recess and also a 2 door storage cupboard where once the basin stood. I was able to find space on the basin wall for a substantial towel radiator. This was the perfect place for it as it was a step away from the bath and an arms length from the basin.

My clients did not disappointment me with their choice of products! Tiles were once again by Mandarin Stone, full of texture and geometry. However, the showpiece product was the green basin unit. With the inclusion of bespoke, hand painted cupboard doors this bathroom is a great example of the family really using their imagination, their style, and their ideas to individualise their family bathroom. This bathroom is a very clever use of space and certainly one that I am proud to show off as an example of my work.
