Stylish Family Bathroom

Westbury-On Trym

Client Brief

We were delighted to get the commission on this large family bathroom in a stunning Georgian house in Westbury on Trym. The room was to be primarily used by the couple’s 2 teenage daughters but with the whole family being active with their respective sporting activities, there was a big focus on having a luxurious bath.

With two teenage daughters, the clients loved the idea of having a double sink, and we kept this in keeping with the period property by selecting the Burbidge wall mounted unit. The Burbidge bathroom furniture range comes with its own selection of solid surface worktops with amalgamated basins, so is a delight to specify. By moving the position of the basin to the left hand wall this gave us the back wall to make the stunning Victoria and Albert Vetralla 2 bath the centrepiece of the room. Due to the age of the property, we found the floor levels to be uneven, and the room sloped from back to front. This is not ideal in any situation, but with freestanding baths it cannot be ignored as the bath base must be level for the water to sit correctly. We therefore decided to create a 2 level bathroom, with the bath and WC on the upper level and the remaining products on the lower level. To make a feature of this step, we fitted an LED feature strip in the base of the step, and connected this to a PIR Sensor. This enables guests that use the bathroom in the night, can do so without having to find a light switch. It also gave our clients subtle mood lighting for that relaxing soak in an evening,

To give the room some further character, we built a bath stud wall with 3 recesses. This gives our clients additional storage and a holding place for items such as an ipad, so the bathing individual could even watch their favourite film whilst relaxing in the bath!

We kept the showering space in the same location, tucked around the corner. As is often the way these days, the client preferred the simplicity of a walk in shower.

The clients chose Farrow and Ball Ammonite on the walls and Hague Blue for the bath stud wall.

Amtico was chosen as the floor covering with underfloor heating running through both levels.

Our clients were delighted with the finished look..
